So close, you can almost taste it

The recordings of the four other songs are almost complete. Need to record vocals, cello, and a wee more bass. Shouldn't take more than a week or two. We think you'll like 'em. I'll try to get them up here (or somewhere accessible) within the next few weeks. With school starting again, things have gone all busy-like again, so I can't make any guarantees.

More recordings on the way

In the last few weeks we started recording our other original songs. The process is slow as we are a busy and increasingly scattered group. But things are steadily moving, and they should be obtainable within the near future (read: a month or so at the rate it's going). They will be of similar quality as the other two fine home recordings, so if you liked them then you'll most assuredly be fond of these as well. We're still trying to get some 'net space to post them on our own. We'll keep you posted!

Thanks to everyone who downloaded Shady Days and Lamppost from Mannasseh Records! (Ain't Jim great? Thanks to him too.)

Download two GCH songs

Windows Media files of Lamppost and Shady Days are available (and now we know how you can access them)!!

Click the Manasseh Records link to the right over there. You need to be using Internet Explorer, for best results anyway. You'll see links to our songs at the bottom left corner of Manasseh's site. Right click the link you'd like to download, then select "Save Target As" from the menu and save it where you'd like it to go. Open Windows Media player, and enjoy!

Oh yeah, then post here to let us know what you think!

MANASSEH RECORDS

I sure hope I spelled that correctly...

Anywho, Manasseh's founder, Jim (pronounced JEEM) Harris, has posted two Ghostrunner songs on the frontpage of his website under the FRIENDS tab.

Go listen to them and let us know what you think.

A new song was born

Finished a new song this past Friday night. Very early in the morning. Played it solo the next night at Donkey, and I think it works very well. (Sadly, the rest of the Ghostrunners weren't able to play. 'Twas a show that wasn't.) Someone there (one of about 8 total people, +/- 2) said it was her new favorite. That's always a good thing, right? It's called Give Me My Money Back for now. We'll see what the other boys think of it at practice tomorrow night.

Aiye. I wish songwriting came to me the way it used to. Lyric writing, to be more precise. I ain't got no mo flo, ya know? What's a bro to do?

(Did you just read "bro to doh"? Man, I hope so...)

PROBABLY THE BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN, DONE, OR TASTED.

Ghostrunner Come Home is the best band around

Sometimes I think that. I guess it's really more of a feeling. And I can feel anything I want to, right? I mean, this is still America, right? Damn straight. Be tellin' me what to think and feel?...sheesh. Oh wait, that's what advertisers are paid to do. My bad.

Memo: On Appropriate Abbreviations for the Band Name

It has come to our attention that in having a somewhat long name, people are rather inclined to abbreviate the name however they may choose. Upper management has come across several of these abberations and has compiled this helpful list of acceptable titles and abbreviations for the official name: Ghostrunner Come Home.

1. Ghostrunner Come Home
2. Ghostrunner
3. GCH

Please note that Ghostrunner is one word and not "Ghost Runner" or "Ghost-runner." Also, please note that referring to the band as "that band with the cello and the cute drummer" is only acceptable three times. Past thrice and you aren't even trying.

Thank you for your time and cooperation,
The Mgmt.

The Show Report

Things went well. Very well, in fact, considering the circumstances. See, it's considered bad form to complain or make excuses for a performance during a performance, but it's probably fair to mention those things after the fact. We hadn't practiced for three weeks prior to the week of this show; We only found out about the show on Monday...four days before the show was scheduled to take place; We played two new songs that, up until this point, we had not finished or even played all the way through; I was recovering from a cold.

So, there you have it. My anxieties are lifted. And despite all that, I feel like we gave a great show and played very well. With excuses, I give it a 7. You agree? I am very happy that people liked the new songs and I am even more thankful for everyone who came to see us play! Feel free to talk with us any time you see us. Sometimes we seem busier than we are. Or more timid than we'd care to be.

PS: If you are reading this, then by default you must rock or rule something. Thanks for being a friend to Ghostrunner Come Home.

PPS: An extra special thanks to Senor Steve-Dave. Man, that glacier would have been the end of us had it not been for your quick thinking and atomic energy device.

Rock Show this FRIDAY

Indeed, the rumors are true! ("What rumors?") Ghostrunner Come Home has a show this Friday, April 1, at Donkey Coffee. Starts at 9ish p.m.

We'll be opening for
The Substitutes, a highy talented and amusing yet humble rock band from ye olde Athens. Four out of four of these guys are good friends of mine. I'll even vouch for them. And they're funny to watch. And they're pleasant to hear. You can bet that--seeing as it'll be April Fool's Day--they'll have something special planned. Anyone attend their Christmas Party this past year?

We're the opening act, so we'll be going on between 9-9:30, most likely. If you really want to see us, get there at 9, just to be sure!

Where, O where has my rockroll band gone?

It has been several weeks since any sort of practice or playing. I miss the musics. That is all.

PS: I am a degenerate delinquent. I have not yet recorded my parts of the songs. But, to my credit, a friend borrowed the recording equipment. For a few days.
